While we in the West are busy preparing for the busy holiday season, it’s easy to forget that 90% of the world’s population is not so fortunate, and where we often fret over whether we can afford that ‘extra special’ present, there are many in the world who can not even afford basic necessities, let alone holiday luxuries.

For more than 750 orphaned children in Iraq, this reality was mitigated by Child Aid International’s 2006 gift program which provided much-needed gifts of new clothing for the holidays. Parentless and penniless, gifts are seldom enjoyed by these children, but this year, each of the 750 orphaned children were given two new sets of clothing along with the gift of happiness during the Iraqi holiday season.

This year’s campaign followed in the footsteps of last years successful gift distribution to 650 orphaned children. Child Aid International would like to extend a special thank you to generous donors throughout North America and Europe who contributed to this meaningful project. With your generous donations, we have brought joy to many children. children. 

 

 

In August, 2006, a large container of medical supplies, clothing and other basic essentials was shipped from the port of Vancouver on its way to the war-torn country of Iraq. The container’s precious cargo included such necessities as bandages and medicines, sneakers and sweaters. Though we often take these small items for granted, their importance is immeasurable to those whose lives have been devastated by war.

It may seem like clothing and medical supplies aren’t something most kids see as being worth getting excited about, but in the lives of war-torn orphaned children in Iraq, it’s a generous gift that changes the landscape of their lives. The August 2006 container brought important supplies to those who desperately need them. While there are no immediate plans for another Special Delivery to be made, the goal is that donor generosity will make it possible to see more special deliveries make their way to the children of Iraq. With your help, we’ll send more important care packages to these children who are in tremendous need of them.
